"the Tank has really lost his mind."

Why is that? He just accurately described Pence's plan. I personally couldn't care less if illegal aliens go home and then come back to work. The end result is the same.

Don't look at who wrote the proposed bill- judge it by what the bill does. It's easy for even the strongest conservative to get scared by the combined forces of big business and the hispanic lobby.

The Pence bill gets our ENFORCMENT bill passed. Then it deports 12 million illegals(there will be no jobs)This is the only way we get a bill that sends them home passed.

Jeff Sessions was just on Lou Dobbs and said that this current bill will cost the American Taxpayer $50 Billion a year -- based on the number of 10 - 12 million illegals in the country, if the numberis 20 million double the numberto $100 billion... the number congress expects to 'collect' is significantly lower.

Pretty much so. Notice as Bush/Dems/MSM define opponents as "right wing extremists" similar happening here with the Tancredo focus.

Pence writes:

"I come before you today in the midst of a national debate over immigration reform. While I acknowledge that, as the New York Times stated Sunday, we are near the "end game" on immigration reform in the United States Senate,"

I agree with that. "Immigration reform" cannot be passed with coupling it to Border Security and enforcement of current laws. Bush has created a false dillema with his "comprehensive" plan. Bills for security have been passed before without changing immigration laws.

If the bill fails, Dems and Bush claiming Repub obstruction will fail. More attention will come to the issue, and it will hurt the proponents. Heck, I read a New York Times article a day or two ago where it felt it had to at least make a stab at the economic effects the bill will have on Americans...it's a start!

Agreed 100%. I wanted Pence to have a good plan, but this isn't one. I still don't see why the enforcement isn't coming FIRST. First enforce the current law, then build the wall, then you can invite in guest workers. It's that simple.

In that case, don't say you're not "anti-immigration," because you're obviously against both legal and illegal immigration.

So we can't send illegals home and take back the limited number who apply for citizenship -- perhaps you'd propose just shooting all Mexicans?
