You signed up today.

Let me give you a small piece of advice....don't pick on long time FReepers if you plan on staying much longer. It's generally not well received.

I expect Bush to come back, just based on normal political cycles of ups and downs.

"Even the MSM would change its tune if Iran attacked Israel."

I honestly don't think so.

I don't think I have a problem with this, but then I'm not sure what the expression "will come to Israel's aid" means, exactly.

Hopefully, it looks something like this, flying towards Iran.

Israel his been fighting for it's survival since it's inception. The tiny country is surrounded by Arab countries who can't agree on anything except Israel must be destroyed.

Israel has the fortitute to defend itself to the very end.

What specifically makes you think the USA would nuke some country or countries, given the current makeup of our government, in response to suffering a terrorist nuke attack?

Who would they nuke? There would be no consensus to nuke anybody based on the actions of a few terror cells who got their hands on a nuke.

Can you share with me specifics, of 'real merit?'

I'm not talking a nuke response...we fought Afghanistan and Iraq with one hand tied behind our backs....if a President gives the order we would unleash hell...without bothering to use our nukes.

We only used a fraction of our air assets in Iraq....imagine all of those worldwide assets unleashed on one country.

I sometimes wonder if we really, truly would support Taiwan in such an event.

I don't wonder. I have no doubt that we wouldn't do anything except some posturing.

You wake up one morning and find out 3 American cities have been nuked by what we suspect are Islamic terrorist cells.

Who do you nuke in response?

Answer: No one.

Iran's wackos were raised in a closed society and have no perspective from which to judge world events. Bin Laden also thought we would put our tail between our legs and retreat after 9/11. He was as correct as the Iranian mullahs will be if Israel is nuked.

Say what you want about the President, he does not govern by polls, and the bombs would fly before the American people or the Congress had time to think about it, much less offer an opinion.

If W is still President when Israel is nuked, we will nuke Iran. Bet on it.

Oh good lord..take it to another thread....frankly I'm sick to damn death of the whining from the close the border crowd.

Call the whaaambulance! I already stated my support, early in this thread, for Bush on this subject. Go cry yourself to sleep. Thanks!

You are so mistaken in your thinking. I don't know how to respond.

You're right, but for the wrong reason. What specifically makes you think Dubya could talk Americans into supporting a third military adventure in the Mid East to avenge the crater that is Tel Aviv?

I just don't see Americans caring enough to get physical.

hitman your positions are ridiculous. It's just your personal reaction about what you think "people" won't allow somehow, versus reality. Reality is that the US is pledged to Israel's defense and that this country would act if Israel is threatened. Luckily, what you feel about it will not be the deciding factor.

Further, with nuclear weapons and still the best conventional forces in the region, Israel frankly isn't going to ask us to protect it beyond some military cooperation. If anything, Bush is warning Iran and preparing for a possible good excuse to attack Iran. Far from not acting, Bush will act against Iran and polls already show majorities support such action. Most Americans say the threat from Iran is far greater than it was from Iraq.

Yep, it would be a lot like that. Except don't expect the USA to push the button.

Oh no. I will not tolerate that level of mentally deficient vulgarity on FR. Especially leveled at the President. If that's the limit of one's ability to converse and opinionate, then FR doesn't need their primitive intellect. DU will welcome them.

Do you think it would end there?

I don't.

I think we would be greeted with sucide attacks all over this country in the days following any major/nuclear attack on Iran.

That doesn't mean I don't think we shouldn't attack, we definitely must respond. But we must also be ready for the attacks on our civilian populace here at home by sleeper cells.

Maybe it means that many of us have to start carrying weapons for our own defense.

I hear what you are saying but I think eventually, they as well as us, will have the cajones to do what is necessary. Not something to be taken lightly. We are near the end my FRiend.
