I don't think I have a problem with this, but then I'm not sure what the expression "will come to Israel's aid" means, exactly.
To: sissyjane
The way I read post #56, it was an expression of frustration that the MSM is not taking "The President of the United States" as seriously as it should. Not using the f-bomb as a derogatory.

Cause Iran's whacko leaders don't seem to think he can do much against them with low public approval and a Congress who runs from him, rather than to rally him. Their language shows that they aren't at all fearful of the USA (right now).

Polls are a reflection of the moment. Minds change. Even the MSM would change its tune if Iran attacked Israel. The real danger is if Iraq thinks you're right. That is, if Iraq thinks Bush cannot lead. This is similar to other episodes in our history, and I'd remind all that many dictators in history have under estimated the American political dynamic. Just as Churchill was once considered down and out, Bush could come back too. The media may want to consider how much harm they're doing as they run incessant anti-Bush pieces that are a) lies, b) propaganda for our enemies, and c) dangerous and delusional.

feel you, but I don't even think the USA would go nuclear in response to getting hit with 2 or 3 nukes. I don't have much faith in Israel, 2006. Would be good to see them get tough, but I can't say I expect it. You are more than entitled to your opinion, but your opinions have very little basis to them. You really seem to be on here to just take an opposite view with no real merit.

I sometimes wonder if we really, truly would support Taiwan in such an event. I am ashamed and angered every time we defer to Communist China on matters such as when the Taiwanese president wants to visit the States, we barely acknowledge the event...if a visa is even granted at all...

A leader who can't lead can't do much. Dubya can't lead right now. I'd like to see that change. Pretending otherwise isn't helpful. If Tel Aviv is a crater, I dont think most Americans would be in a huff to avenge it. I think Dubya would have a tough time leading America on an adventure to avenge Israel.
Maybe I'm wrong.

And the now-screeching libs will fall into silence. Once again, they will demonstrate to the world they are made of nothing.

You are insane, if the US is hit with 2-3 nukes the country that did it would cease to exist. You must be either a communist chinese supporter,a russian national,a marxist, or a muslim. One thing is for sure you are all idiot.
To: eduriee33
I agree and have said so for a long while on FR. We are past the 'why,' though. It doesn't matter why Dubya is enjoying broad disapproval. All that matters is that it's true.
That's a hole he is in and apportioning fault doesn't matter. If e tells America it's time to go to war again to avenge Israel, most Americans would more likely than not tell him to go to hell.
That's not my position - I'd advocate a strong response. Most Americans, I am sad to say, probably wouldn't.

I'm not whining. Just a statement of my position. I think Americans wouldn't want to avenge Israel with her sons & daughters. There would be no mandate at all to go nuclear on them, either. Dubya would have to convince America to go to war again, and he can't convince them that a ports deal is a good thing.
Nothing right no makes me think he could talk America into another war right now.
This isn't whining. I have no idea why you characterize admittedly a bleak evaluation with whining.
