The use of marijuana in Israel has been discussed before on FR. The concensus seems to be that its use in Israel is probably less on a per capita basis when compared to marijuana use in the US and Western Europe. It's true, though, that only a generation ago, Israel would be the last place one would think of with respect to national drug problems.

I have some Israeli friends and have visited Israel before. I don't think they have the kind of prevalent marijuana sub-culture that exists in the US. You don't see teens walking around with pot leaf emblems on their clothes like you do in US cities. In some liberal metropolitan parts of Israel (Tel Aviv) there is a "rave party scene" where there is presumably some drug use that goes on --- though I don't think that is the norm in their society.
