If you want to hold down spending, I suggest you turn your eyes to the House and Senate. I don't expect ANY President to veto a spending bill submitted by his own party, particularly when the votes for an override are there.

Bush hasn't exactly secured our borders. I know he was always soft on illegals but I hoped he would have changed a bit after 9/11. And now his pushing amnesty and insulting our intelligence by saying it's not amnesty...
He could have put principles and the Nation above his loyalty to party and vetoed those spending bills.
I too worked to get him elected, but he's dissed at least most of his base (you're an exception) too many times.
