To: Choose Ye This Day
My wife and I just saw it tonight and I just did not view it as insulting. I am not defending Hollywood, but it would take a more meaty story than this to insult me. In fact, the guy who wants the world to know about the "truth" of Jesus being married, is portrayed as a kook and criminal. It was kind of boring and not worthy of any controversy in my opinion.

I agree about the film being less insulting than I expected (and I have not read the novel). Maybe some viewers will ignore the characterization, but the villain is the one who is arguing against the divinity of Jesus, and the Tom Hanks character argues for the divinity of Jesus.
