Bush is conservative only insofar as conservative theory is compatible with his particular Christian beliefs. If he considers it to be a Christian duty to feed, heal, and education half the world on taxpayer money, he'll abandon conservatism in a trice, as we've seen. And you are fine with that because you are ALSO Christian first, conservative second (which is why it is so ironic when you start going on about pseudo-conservatives.)
Those of us on Free Republic who admire Bush for certain things but disagree with him on others are most often conservative first and that is simply that.
Grrr... "feed, heal, and EDUCATE half the world..." we really need a go-back-and-edit button on here...
None of us agrees with him on everything........the very point made in this article. But some of us choose to continue to support him, and the office he holds, in spite of differences. The degrees vary, but what we all agree on, is that leadership is not about doing what WE want, but doing what he thinks best for the country as a whole.
And on that, President Bush has been completely consistent from Day One.
