Let's also not forget about the urban legend either tancredo or his supporters put out of Karl Rove saying for tancredo never to step inside the White House again.

But tancredo shows up at a White House Christmas party.

Well so much for Tancredo jumping on the immigration issue for political gain.

He was taken aback in the mid 70's by rules pertaining to immigration and he went into politics to see it changed. Hardly something NEW for him an I would offer this.

He has been in politics for a long time because he had a goal to see immigration rules put back into check.

I find it amazing that you would FAULT him for doing something LONF TERM that he has sought after from the very start.

First off, I actually heard Tancredo say he wasn't invited to the White House (with my own ears)

Urban Legend? LOL..Here's just one example of your so-called Urban Legend..

Christian Science Monitor, December 10, 2004

In House, a band of new rebels

BY GAIL RUSSELL CHADDOCK STAFF WRITERWASHINGTON -

"After dubbing President Bush's "open door" border policy a threat to national security, Rep. Tom Tancredo says, he got a call from Bush aide Karl Rove proposing that he never again "darken the doorstep of the White House." He's glad that the non-invite apparently didn't extend to the annual congressional Christmas party.

"It means a lot to my wife," quips the third-term Colorado Republican, who attended the White House event Monday.

There's no question that a public rift with a Republican president is a tough career move for any aspiring GOP lawmaker. But for Mr. Tancredo, who came to the House after running a libertarian think tank in Golden, Colo., standing up for ideas is what politics is about - and for him, no policy is more vital than controlling borders and ending the "cult of multiculturalism" that sees the US as "groups of victimized classes....snip"

And? Maybe someone figured out that snubbing one of the Republican Party's leaders on the immigration issue who enjoys a wide following within the party, and who retains an excellent voting record, was not a very good idea. Maybe Karl Rove didn't get to vet all of the party attendees. Maybe you're just throwing anything and everything you can to trash one of the most conservative Republicans in Congress out of sheer hatred.
