Perhaps Kennedy and Pelosi don't care, but it's critical that colleagues in the Congress stand up and clearly define a bright line between dissent and treason. Senator Ensign performs a vital service to the USA by very publicly condemning these offenders who have crossed the line.
In the absence of boundaries and vocal objections, Americans are lulled into believing that atrocious behavior which gives aid and comfort to the enemy is merely free speech or political dissent. Such a lowering of standards, when faced with a ruthless enemy, is extremely dangerous and will prove fatal for our troops in the field and citizens at home.
You know, during the Civil War, there were a group of northern Democrats who actively worked against the Union cause. They thought that the war was being fought solely at the urging of Abolitionists, and desparately wanted Lincoln removed from office and hanged. Some of them plotted to free Confederate prisoners from POW camps, and some even accepted funding from the Confederacy. Sound familiar? These people were called Copperheads, after a deadly snake that strikes with no warning. I think we need to have a label for folks like Kennedy, Pelose, Reid, Turban, etc. I'm putting Copperheads on the table for this purpose. Comments?
