I find your comments comforting, but still hard to believe from an outsider's POV. He was just awful in his leadership role during Katrina...he fell to pieces!
How much influence does he have or what is the relationship between him and the law enforcement team? Also what kind of relationship does he have with the city council?

Thanks for the inside perspective.

Local law enforcement in New Orleans is a joke. The criminal courts building flooded in the storm, regardless, the criminal judges were far too liberal continuously releasing violent offenders, often without bond!

The police department has improves its reputation since the mid 90s. That being said their ranks were decimated by the storm

One good thing Nagin is doing is that he is working with federal law enforcement in an effort to put the bad guys away.

We have pretty much an entirely new city council. The old one was useless. We'll see. I know my new council member fairly well and I think she has some good ideas.
