I'm not quite sure I understand what you mean by the term "poor."

I understand Mexico to be wealthy in natural resources.

Right!

What's the number of that violent gang from El Salvador?

B-13, or whatever it is. I'm read they are slipping through the gates as well.

I don't make friends with anyone who decapitates people!

Iliteracy; crime; corruption; diseases; over-population; depletion of natural resources; global warming from chilles; ---what more could any Republic ask for? (scarcasm)

Yeah, all those Americans who won't do jobs---sure!

I haven't seen any U. S. Dept. of Labor reports that could possibly show the number of minimum wage jobs we Americans won't do.

About sending this country into bankruptcy, you may want to read the following article regarding the global economy's danger signs:

Thanks for the ping, A. C. Hugo Chavez' patented ploy is to destabilize society with violent protests, then agitate to oust the incumbent government. He did this in Venezuela and engineered it in Bolivia. It looks like the unrest in Mexico could be related to Chavez' tactics. He cannot be allowed to affect the outcome of the Mexican elections.

I have no doubt this is true.

"If Mexico is incurably corrupt, why did we sign onto NAFTA?"

The majority of Americans didn't sign/buy into NAFTA. Bill Clinton ran his campaign on the premise that he was against it. However, when he became president, and the issue came before him, he didn't blink twice to sign it into law.

Connecting some dots. Ross Perot spoke about the "giant sucking sound" that would occur South of the Border. That surrealism hasn't quite come true yet. It will grow giant legs with the completion of the 'Trans-Texas Corridor, and the Punta Colonet project."

At the risk of hijacking this thread, has anybody given serious thought to simply have the U.S. take over Mexico before Mexico takes over us? I mean, if we can overthrow the Iraqi government half a globe away, why can't we do it to our own neighbor?

I'd like to see what Mexicans think of that. As bad as it is there they likely wouldn't mind.
