But no one's asking for "enlisting under other banners than her own". They want support not a military invasion. And support is something we've given to a number of countries fairly recently that were seeking democracy and freedom. That's how you help spread democracy.
Yes it has. And there should be enough historical data to prove that it doesn't work. WWI? Vietnam? Korea? WWII was a partial fix for WWI but unnecessary if Wilson would have stayed out of the first one.

And how's that support going to come? At the expense of my tax dollars? Military 'advisors'? Either way it's unconstitutional and not the intention of the Framers. But let's keep at it eh? Sooner or later it has to work out at least once right?

Well not really but that's a never mind. If you want to spread 'democracy' (although one would wonder why we would want to as the Framers advised against such a form of government) you do so by example, not by throwing money or lives at it.
