The European Commission has drawn up plans to set up a European coastguard, which critics fear is a back-door attempt by Brussels to create an EU navy with its own powers to stop and search shipping. Did I miss something? Didn't the EU constitution FAIL to pass?

Good, they can pay for their own defense, and pay back the USA for both world wars, and for spending defense money ever since WWII.
Ok EU ? it's time you pay back all the money we spent on your defense all these years. BILLIONS upon BILLIONS.
