It is impossible for me to understand the thought processes of these liberal losers.

What must it be like inside their squirming brains?

Yeah, they don't have a problem with THAT kind of "recruiting." They call it "learning tolerance."

"Junior Allysa Roedl, 16, chose not to participate in the class. She said the Marines had students line up and do exercises such as push-ups and jumping jacks."

Poor Allysa probably missed the regular teacher; the Subaru drivin' flannel shirt wearing, androgynous humanoid.

You'd think this guy was a leper, or a drug dealer instead of an honorable man.

Interestingly, I teach public school in Connecticut and we have had classes conducted by: former drug addicts, former drug dealers, former gang members, convicts, aids victims, and planned parenthood, but never have we had a military recruiter involved in a classroom program.

Wow, what a robot!

I had dr...gym classes with Marine DI's. A highlight of my life, in retrospect.

I don't really understand the objection by the parents since it was voluntary not mandatory for students to participate. I may be strange, but by the time my children are in high school I let them make choices like this on their own.

If this program was at my daughter's high school it would be up to her if she wanted to be in the class or not.

Amen to that. I written lib "leaders" about that very thing, didn't do any good but I sure had fun slamming them. One of our boys has already done his thing in Iraq but you never know what the next deployment will bring.

You gotta great tag line there, I can relate to that...

Participation in East's gym classes was voluntary and about 30 percent of students declined to participate, Harris said.

Don't remember my gym class being "voluntary"..

On the other hand Madison County, WI visitor's center boasts of Madison's ranking as one of the nation's top 50 gay lesbian friendly metropolitan areas. Go figure.

A "handful" usually means five. Five out of 600. Yikes! I'll bet this "handful" of "parents" don't have any problem with pedophile teachers teaching their children how to put condoms on "cucumbers."

Yeah, I've spent time in both Madison and Ann Arbor, they are alot alike. Both believe in suspending the first amendment for conservative speech, both believe in free speech zones, which means if you hold right of center positions you'd better find a "zone" off by yourself to express it.

Both cities have all but eliminated the Republican Party. And both believe that the USA is the worst country on the face of the earth.

I will give Ann Arbor this: they have better football teams.

"Actually, I've long thought that bringing personal trainers into schools and setting up programs for students to meet fitness goals would be a worthwhile program, especially in high school."

When I was a kid, back when Dinosaurs roamed the Earth, we DID have to meet physical fitness standards in gym class every year. I literally remember freaking out because I was ONE push-up short one year and thought that I wasn't going to pass on to the 5th grade! (But I did.)

And then I joined the Army anyway and let them abuse me for 20 years, LOL!

Remember when Bush 41 was President and "Ahnold" was his Physical Fitness Guru? I distinctly remember seeing Arnold on the news quite often, visiting schools and encouraging kids to get fit...or be 'Terminated!'

Mandatory (again) Phy Ed in schools would seem to be the perfect program for the Nanny Staters to get behind; however, I do not want to encourage them further. They have their hands full banning legal and taxed cigarettes for adults and already have Clinton behind banning soda in school at who knows how many hundreds of dollars per hour. ;)

LOL...actually, except for the barefoot part, it was true, since I grew up in Boulder, Colorado..where snow never stopped anything....and, I did walk to school...

but, that was because I lived too close to the school to qualify for the bus.

But, I have a feeling this same article could have been written about Boulder's schools now...Boulder has turned WAY lib.

"If he was gay, and conducting a class in ribbon dancing, you'd never have heard about it."

LOL! Thanks for my first belly laugh of the day...and it's already 4:30pm. Tells you what kind of day I've been having. ;)
