The problem I see is that most RINOs come from areas which are heavily Dem and a conservative has no chance of getting any of the independent, or Dem votes and just getting Republican votes is not enough for victory, so you are trading away a Republican for a Democrat, taking the chance of giving the Dems majority in Congress.
What you do is to write off certain areas of the country and put your effort into electing more conservatives in places which are held by RINOS. Liberals have gradually replaced moderates in the Democratic Party by a similar process.
