I remember in '04 a guy named Matt Throckmorton also forced Cannon into a primary.
Cannon was for pro-illegal alien H.R. 1684 and Throckmorton ran against Cannon on that issue.
Cannon won IIRC by a good margin.
Anyway, after the 04' primary Cannon seems to be whistling a different tune -- he does a good anti-illegal alien thing by voting for HR4437.
IMO, It's hard to assess the Cannon '06 runoff as anti-illegal alien progress.
