The way the Barbaro Fund was explained on the New Bolton Center's website, I think the money raised will not go specifically to help Barbaro, but the entire New Bolton Center and all the animals it helps. Barbaro's owners are capable of paying the entire cost of his care. I understand the Barbaro Fund was started because the Center received what they called a "sizeable" anonymous contribution.
I think a lot of people want some good to come out of this awful incident.
That was good that they worded it that way. There are always some whiners who *would've* given some money except that the owners are wealthy, so they would use that as an excuse not to.
Well, Barbaro was "seen napping" this morning, which Richardson said is also a good sign. He was lying down comfortably in his stall. What a good boy!
His jockey in the Preakness, Edgar Prado, gave an interview this morning for the first time. He had been too upset to talk to anyone until now. I won't paraphrase it because I wouldn't do him justice. Here it is:
