My favorite was Seattle Slew...

I was a little kid when he ran, and being from Washington State, a little south of Seattle, I felt like he was practically my horse :~D

He died on derby day, 2002 at the age of 28.

25 years after his win. I thought if he was going to die, that was the best day for him to go.

Slew was a great, great horse. One of my favorites also. Funny how Secretariat, Seattle Slew and Affirmed all arrived on the scene within five years of each other.

Slew was a great horse--no question. Here's perhaps the greatest filly ever--Ruffian.
