Somewhere along the line I stopped seeing it as a sport and started seeing it as something cruel. I

You seemed like a pretty big fan at the start of the thread when we all had high hopes. Not seeing where in the first fifty or so posts you indicated so much disdain for the sport.

We're all disappointed and some are broken hearted about this turn of events. But there is always risk in sport, and this reminds us of that, it doesn't mean the sport is never worth the risk.

I don't have disdain for the sport. Like many others, I believe research should be done to look for ways to improve racing surfaces. I also follow NASCAR. It took Dale Earnhardt's death to get NASCAR to adopt rules for HANS devices and safer barriers. People can speak for themselves. Horses can't.
