I just heard that Bramalage the vet on tv said he was a very good patient going to the hospital and his chances are no better than 50/50. He said that this could mess up his breeding career because he may never have the strength in that leg to mount a mare. So right now it could be just to save his life. He may never even be able to breed.

That is a gorgeous mare. Is that the one with War Admiral in her pedigree?

Well at least in the Catholic Church, they move priests around every few years so if you get a liberal one, in a couple of years, they'll be gone. We're getting a new one this summer. He's really good, so I'm excited.

BTW, he's married, so I can finally say "Hi Father, how's the wife and kids?"

What a great name. If I ever owned a racehorse, I would have named him Double Negative.

I had a silver tabby when I was younger. My aunt had a Siamese, he was very dog like. My middle cat is either insane or a princess. I haven't decided yet.

Thanks for the update. I'm not a racing fan, but I HATE to see such a beautiful, spirited animal, get injured like this.

"It will take a miracle for this horse to survive."

Pardon my ignorance about horses, but how is an ankle break life threatening?

Yep, she's something like a 5x great grand-daughter. She's got that really high bred look, especially around the head. If you could see her profile - it's long and perfectly straight. Classic T'bred good looks.

She's also got a very sweet personality - not a mean bone in her body, and she loves people.

So I don't really complain about her appalling lack of speed, except in fun.

Thanks for the update.

I'm sorry his chances of pulling through are only 50/50.

Worrying about his breeding career is sort of putting the cart before the horse . . . but if that leg is merely weak, they'll be able to figure something out.

Get the colt healed up, and good old American ingenuity will get him into position for the mare.

She sounds very nice. I think its neat that she seems to be so careful and any horse that is nice like that is worth more than all the speed in the world.

Sorry, I was gone for a while. Just because the breed was created for the thrill and entertainment of horse lovers does not mean that that cruel use is approved. Any horsemen or pony clubber is brought up with the ethic that you take care of your horse before you do something for yourself. After a ride you walk them down , untack and make sure they are comfortable before you change or anything for ourselves. Horsepeople have very strong ethics on the proper care and treatment of horses.
Nowhere did my statement imply otherwise.

I have owned horses for over 20 years and have taken care of them until they die natural deaths.

I do not know if you are a horseman or not. If so you are aware of this.

Yea, it probably putting the cart before the horse. I think his intention for saying that was to just show how bad it is, I guess.

LOL he will find a way!!!

There are a handful, 100 or so, of priests that converted from other religions (such as Episcopalians) and were already married. Those ministers, if they want to continue as pastors, can first convert to the Eastern Orthodox religion, then after a period of time (a few years, I think), they can become Roman Catholic priests. I'm sure it's not as simple as I make it sound, but that's the procedure in a nutshell.

It just seems weird to have a married priest - and NO, I'm not in favor of it happening throughout the Church. It's an exception made for a particular situation, but I definitely think it should remain an exception.

He's an ex-Episcopalian, I believe. Which is the Americanized Anglican, right?

Very cute mare! Congratulations on her. She's not weedy like so many OTTBs but very attractive. I can see why you clean up in the show hunter divisions.

I go back and forth. The TBs are fast in the hunt field and can go first flight, but they're fragile and I always worry about them in rough country. On the other hand the half-breds or part-drafts with their rock-solid legs can't keep up. A lot depends on the country you're hunting.

I just turned down the cutest TB stallion on the planet. He would have been a gift horse, and is just the sweetest, prettiest guy you would ever want to meet. But I didn't want to spend the rest of my life with a cold hose in one hand and my checkbook in the other.
