I don't have that stat reference on hand, but I do have this factoid ...
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1634963/posts
"it is simply untrue that there is a shortage of low skilled labor in the United States. There are more than 30 million low-wage workers in the workforce. More specifically, Black teenage unemployment in the United States (men ages 16-19) is approximately 35%. The New York Times recently reported on the deepening plight of black men."

You're right. The Reconquista map shows them taking everything West of the Mississippi River as Mexican property.

I always respected Kudlow, but he really has drunk the open borders cheap-labor-lobby KoolAid there! These die hard free market uber capitalist people get caught in traps that dumber people avoid. Such as that people have their own desires and life outside of being a cheap labor commodity (Mexicans) and being allowed to illegally immigrate en masse to the USA. They want families, women, children, housing, food, nice TV sets. AND THEY JUST MIGHT NOT WANT TO GO HOME! When George Bush & senile Senate hacks say they are supposed to! This is aside from them cheapening our American citizenship and disrupting lawful immigration flows. Filipinos are waiting for 10 years to get here
They have gamed the system and legalizing them will encourage others to do the same. But from more countries than Mexico. Word is spreading worldwide that we are pushovers. That the USA is also a great place for 3rd world crooks to immigrate to pursue their lives of crime

I pulled up Utah, in the CNN poll, and although Hispanics were 5% of the vote, there was no data for them. But the "white" vote in Utah, matched the vote of the state as a whole, with 1% black and 1% Asian complementing the mix. So, a tentative thesis, is that the Mormons are brain washing the Hispanics, and Utah Hispanics are the most GOP leaning Hispanics on the fruited plain.
And there you have it.

I agree with your premise that as the population grows so would the economy -- though not, particularly the well-paying economy -- but the thing that will not grow exponentially is our natural resources, in particular water, which our country is running lower on each and every year. We have supply and demand issues for water, oil, and food.... no water - no home-grown ethanol; no water - no food; no water - no houses. Desalinization is a great idea but energy intensive and very expensive to produce.

More specifically, Black teenage unemployment in the United States (men ages 16-19) is approximately 35%. Change the age range, and narrow the gender to males, and you get a more creditable stat about black unemployment. But that stat was the same 20 years ago, maybe worse. In fact, it was probably worse.

Most of our water is used for irrigation.

"Where are they all going to work? There can't be that many jobs created in 10 years..."
Americans will infiltrate Mexico by the millions. They will then proceed to take over the government, take the jobs Mexicans will not do and create a thriving economy.

Which they just cut off to farmers in Colorado this week. Will we start to import all our food to satisfy the thirst of a 50% increase in our population?
To: Arizona Carolyn
No, food will be grown where irrigation is less of an input, or the value added of water is very high, like on very flat land, near to markets, with a year round growing season, and rain complements the mix. And then Iowa comes to mind, which has no irrigation. That is a state whose Eastern boundary is the Mississippi River, and Western boundary is the Missouri River, and in much of the state, the top soil is more than 100 feet deep, in some places 400 feet deep, thanks to the glaciers dumping it all there. And then in come places the water comes from underground aquifers, such as in the panhandle of Texas. When it gives out, the land will revert to the way God intended it. Urban northern Orange County, California, gets all of its water from the aquifer under it.

I've seen that map.
I don't think that territory would be enough to appease.

The aquifers in this country are in trouble. The SW get's it's water from the Colorado River and we are eight years into drought with our two major lakes less than 50% full and enviros filing legal suits to take out the dams. their eyebrows in snow)
A great deal of food is grown in the California/Arizona deserts.

For OK, I swear the CNN exit poll - or one I saw online - said Hispanics voted 74 percent Bush.

Okie Blacks voted 28% Bush (certainly that is the highest in the nation). The place must be in the deep grip of a religious right wing theocracy. Native Americans are probably equally as hypnotized.

Yes, water is such a major issue for those in the SW.
Now you'll have to be concerned with supplying water for the Guard, along with all the other problems already facing you.
I love the SW, but sooooooo glad I moved back here.

"The good side of the bill is it would practically wipe out illegal immigration, due to the fact any one can come without having to jump the border."
This is the great irony. Bush has responded to the problem as a clever child might.
"The bad news is it would permanently change the national character of the country by absorbing so many newcomers without being assimilated into the American mainstream. We have always been welcoming of and have successfully made immigrants Americans. The question is whether we can make so many arrivals Americans in a short period of time."
Yes and I suspect you will understand that the answer is no. For one thing, we never forced earlier waves of immigrants to assimilate---they eagerly participated in the process. (though, admittedly, society was set up to encourage this---as it is increasingly less.) These people don't want to---and they won't.

Sorry, I went there but was unable to find the information you refer to. Would it be possible for you to cite an exact address or just copy the info and import it?
Thanks, you've got something important here.
