The word 'socialist' is used as often on FR as the word 'fascist' is used on DU. It's not meaningful in either case.

Socialism is 'Any of various theories or systems of social organization in which the means of producing and distributing goods is owned collectively or by a centralized government that often plans and controls the economy.'

Can you name a dozen major Democrat elected officials on the national political landscape who explicitly advocates this?

Try this link. Read their program and decide how else they intend to fulfill it. Socialists are not stupid, and will not reveal their intention any more than the frontmen for "the religion of peace."

Ever hear of the Progressive Caucus? Know what "progressive" means in todays political terminology? There are fifty plus members of the Progressive Caucus in the house. Every one is a Dem save for Bernie Sanders of Vermont who admits to being a socialist. What conclusions can we draw from that?

Seriously no pol, save Sanders and he's from Vermont, will admit to being a socialist. But where do you think the words "redistribution" and "wealth or income gap" come from? They do it on the sly.
