"I'm so happy to be in Rhode Island and have this chance to support your U.S. senator, Lincoln Chafee," said Mrs. Bush. "He is an important member of the U.S. Senate."
Well, isn't that special?

You know what is really special?
Linc Chaffee didn't vote for President George W. Bush in the last election. He wrote in 41's name because his conscience wouldn't let him support the sitting President, a fellow Republican. Then he gave an interview about it. In RI, he is referred to as "our Senator from Virginia".
Then there is the email from Linc's wife telling Dems how to beat the polling process so they can jump party lines for one day to vote for Linc.
Linc is a legacy. So was Mary Bono. Same difference, except Linc just won't go away. Add it all up, and you see that Lincoln Chaffee is the poster boy for RI politics.

"He is an important member ofthe ...Senate". So was Brutus. And he, at least had principles.
