The mother may be responsible for their disappearance, but the MSHP has issued the alert because they cannot be sure at this point. Sounds as if they've been gone over 24 hours now.
Doesn't sound very good
Sorry, I guess 24 hours as of midnight.
sounds like she might just be mad at her ex. (hopefully)
I just saw this on the news. I pray for the safe return of these children.

Strange.
"Editor's note: Confusion reigned on Friday afternoon whether this disappearance triggered an Amber Alert, a statewide and nationwide notice about abducted children. Springfield Police at first labeled it an Amber Alert but later called it a Missing Child Alert, because the Missouri State Highway Patrol has to officially issue an Amber Alert in Missouri. The highway patrol hasn't issued that alert because its investigators think it's possible the estranged mother took the children. The Child Alert Foundation does call it an Amber Alert."
Ok, so they were merely "staying" with the father as in a visitation? If that were the case, then why would the mother have to kidnap them now instead of waiting to skip out when dad brought them back in a couple days? If the LE is serious about the mother, then there's a lot more to this story than is being reported.
The 6 PM news here just declared that it IS now an Amber Alert per the Highway Patrol, but it sounds as if they are rather doubtful it will turn out to be an outside source.
Which, if this is true, is a huge waste of resources, but what LEO can take that chance?
Heres for their safe return. I always cringe when when I hear these stories. About 3 years ago, we were eating at the Mcdonalds in Vinita, OK, the one that is built over I-44 like a bridge. My wife had taken our youngest into the bathroom and my five year old and I waited outside. I turned around and Thomas was gone. For about 30 seconds I could not find him and it was very frightening. (He had wandered into one of the souvenir shops) The way its built, you can sit at a table and watch the cars on the interstate rush under the restaurant. Thus it had to entrances, one of the soubound side and one on the north. All I could think of through rising panic, was how easy a getaway would be, we wouldnt know which side they took, and they could be on the interstate in about 60 secs. A valuable lesson learned-in the right setting it could only take seconds for someone to snatch your kid..
"what LEO can take that chance?"
True. I just had not seen such confusion before.
Yup, been there many times. One could grab a child and be heading either direction in a flash. Scary.
I totally lost interest in all "Amber Alerts" when feuding parents were included in the proces...
My prayers for their safe return.
I couldn't even imagine...
Have mercy upon these two innocent little ones who need Your mighty hand to intervene in their lives quickly. Make haste to help them, Lord, so that no evil may befall them. We confess that nothing escapes Your careful watch and nothing is too difficult for You. Keep them safe through the night, Father, by Your grace. In the Name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
Thank you so much - our 10 PM local news says they were found with their mother (as suspected), but that they have been taken into protective custody, despite the fact that they had gone missing from their father's/grandmother's home.
The father is questioning why they would not be returned to him...I guess we will hear the rest of the story in the following days.
