Venezuela just seized some oil fields in which China has a stake. The common denominator here is theft. The Chinese government does it to a very limited extent (so as not to discourage foreign investors), but some Latin Americans are doing it on a wholesale basis. If Latin American countries aren't afraid of Uncle Sam with respect to seizing American assets, they're certainly not worried about possible retaliation from the Chinese 10,000 miles away.
