I'm getting so sick and tired of President Bush and the other people that are 'squishy' on borders and uncontrolled immigration saying that ONLY a 'comprehensive' immigration package is acceptable.
Here is my analogy: A 'comprehensive' immigration control package is like:
Refusing to fix the brakes on your car, headed for steep mountain roads with thousand foot cliffs on either side, because you want a new paint job, a new car stereo and new upholstery too.
So, President Bush et al. are willing to drive off a cliff tomorrow because they refused to fix the brakes today..... because they can't get all the feel-good, non-critical changes done today too.
Funny; the politicians who are so good at incrementalism of stealing our rights a little bit every day refuse to use incrementalism on protecting the borders and the soverignty of the USA.
SECURE THE BORDERS FIRST... Build a WALL. Patrol that wall effectively. Stop 95% of the multiple- thousands of illegal alians invaders that are now flooding across the borders every day; (According to local border patrol (rank-and file) officers, the flood has increased significantly since the President and the Senate started spouting their DE-FACTO amnesty nonsense.)
SECURE THE BORDERS FIRST. We can figure out what to do with the current 12-20 million illegal aliens already in the country later. Do it now before there are 60 million illegal aliens to deal with.
SECURE THE BORDERS FIRST: We can develop a guest worker program that will satisfy everyone (other than Vincente Fox and his citizens that want opportunities that they can't find in their own corrupt government and cutlure.)
And while we are building the wall, we can start to enforce the immigration laws that are already on the books, but have been mostly ignored for the last 20 years.
It's a threat.
Basically they are saying they'll only enforce the border IF we sell out our country.
It's an empty threat, though, since we know if we step down they won't enforce the border and they'll sell us out anyway. Given it's empty, and we know it to be so, the only thing to do is keeping hammering away at them. Their position is extremely unpopular and infuriating the majority of Americans. Just keep hitting them every single day.
