So what was the purpose of having the Admirals barge on the flight deck?

I wondered that to. Maybe it was holding test equipment they wanted to save after the sinking? Then again maybe it was just a "I wonder what will happen if..." thing.

You wouldn't need the barge to set off demolitions, and I suspect it was used as someone earlier suggested to make movies of the carriers last minutes.
