Looks like the immigration speech wasn't all that well-received.

Just 39% of voters agree with the President's approach on immigration. Most consider the issue very important and believe that strict enforcement of immigration laws will help the economy. So much for claims that only a few one-issue border bots care about border security.

I honestly do not know anyone personally who supports the amnesty. That is what is dragging him down.
To: NYC Republican
he and his rino buddies have ignored the conservative base of his party and the will of the american people... he deserves all the flack he gets.

He is in free fall, the Left hates him as always, and now he proposes to flood our country with tens of millions of Third World low-wage workers, so conservatives are pis*ed.
He is basically clueless, and Rove is apparently living in fantasyland that "immigration reform" was a winning issue.

That's one of the HUGE drawbacks of term-limits... He has nothing to answer for- ever again.

Bingo. It's sad to watch all the insults thrown around here, when people express their sincere concern over this issue.

Team Bush need to do their polling south of the border where his numbers are probably sky high.

So now all the polls have him at his lowest? Well finally, we have it unanamous? So it's only up from here. As Zig Ziglar said about optimisim:"I am so optimistic I would go after Moby Dick in a row boat, and take the tartar sauce with me!"
To: NYC Republican
What do you think President Bush will do with such a poll? Will he be so scared that he will order the deportation of the 12 million illegals who are here? He will not do it because it is impossible to deport 12 millions of them.

They don't have to be deported.
If we would actually enforce the law on employers, millions would leave of their own accord.

The President mentioned this very clearly in his speech that the employers will be punished.

Don't be stupid. You're assuming that issue is totally resolved, gone and forgotten.
What a horrible argument to make.

By the way if you know an employer who hire illegal immigrant in your area, you can easily report him, so start doing what you are advocating.

Don't be stupid. You're assuming that issue is totally resolved, gone and forgotten. What a horrible argument to make. What are you talking about? I am addressing some of the arguments made by Bush supporters of his immigration stance on FR that only a few crazed border bots care about this issue. And that is clearly not the case (not that there wasn't ample proof before).

His administration says 6 million were deported since Bush took office. If true, why is 12 million so far fetched?

If I wasn't a conspiracy theorist, I'd say Bush wants to sink his approval ratings so pro-open borders RATS can gain control of Congress and pass his guest worker plan.

Nice to see that most Freepers now accept the polls as basically accurate. I've been saying that for ages here and have been derided as a RINO, DUer, liberal, etc.
Nah, I just had clear vision, and many others just had clouded vision.
He can only go up now, right?

You're making a foolish argument
A) Poll numbers down
B) People say its because of immigration policy
C) Bush makes speech on immigration
D) You expect the fact that a speech was made, to neuter the issue regardless of the content of the speech, the awareness of it, the digestion of the points, the counter arguments, etc
Strikes me a REEAAAALY REACHING for a reason to whine and complain about 'how you were right', usually coming from the 'Bush is the Devil' crowd around here found in some of the immigration crowd.
