I think that Peggy is easily swayed by whoever she hangs out with at MSNBC or CNN. I stopped reading her a good while ago. If one less click on her words at OpinionJournal means anything, I want them to know that she has one less reader.
Indeed.
I stopped long ago as well. I don't care what she thinks.
"Don't believe a word you hear. It was not suicide. It couldn't have been." -Assistant Attorney General Webster Hubbell, 7/20/93, cited in Esquire, 11/93
I continue to predict a GOP pickup of 1-2 seats in the Senate and 1-5 in the House.
However, even if this is "passed on" to some other group, the tide is building and anyone who doesn't ride this wave will be drowned. It's a-comin'.
Former first brother Roger Clinton allegedly accepted a large cash payment to secure a pardon for organized crime figure Rosario Gambino, but the pardon never went through. Mr. Clinton insists the Gambinos have no hard feelings however. bragging that this weekend they even invited him to join them for a little ride out in the country.
When you talk about RINOs, don't forget Peggy "I'm pissed because the White House didn't treat me like the big deal expert the West Wing show did" Noonan!
"NO ONE now trusts the damn Dems to do anything"
It's not about trusting the democrats. The conservative voters already don't trust them.
The question is about turnout, just as it has always been.
If they don't get this right then we'll be seeing a lot of Speaker pelosi for at least two years.
I recall hearing Clinton's voice every half-hour that the radio was on, during his Reign. His staff trotted him out to the Rose Garden every day that he was in DC to make some kind of statement which got repeated for the next 24 hours.
How often do we hear Bush's voice on an actual news broadcast? And President Bush is actually busy doing things in front of media every day. We know because we have the Dose, but most American have no idea that he has about 3 or more official events every day.
The Senate and a federal attorney are carrying out two separate investigations of Bill Clinton's 140 pardons and 36 reductions in sentence on his last day in office - an action unprecedented in modern American history. The scandal deepened this week when Mrs Clinton's brother Hugh Rodham admitted accepting nearly $400,000 to lobby for two men who received pardons. Hugh Rodham has returned nearly $400,000 The Clintons said they were unaware that Mr Rodham, a Miami lawyer, had taken money for his actions, and demanded that he return it. Mr Rodham, who denies wrongdoing, has returned the money, his lawyer said. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/1187559.stm
"Stop the doom and gloom. It will only get you down. Yes immigration is a big issue, but try to have a less negative attitude."
Negative. Get real. It's just honesty.
Voter turnout is the key to winning, and it has always been that way.
Don't gloss this over. The GOP will get creamed in November if they don't get on this with a reform that will please it's base.
If we stay home, they lose. How else can it be said?
Thanks so much for the Graphic Reminders!!! Illustrations on this thread really add a lot to the discussion - and the current dems are even worse than the good 'ol boys of the Gay Nineties.
I completely disagree. It isn't about turnout. Many conservatives weren't thrilled with Bush, but realized that the possibility of "Speaker Pelosi," as you suggested, was too terrible to imagine, and yes, negative incentives work too.
I remember all the scandals, and the gates....if the Democrats think this Moderate Republican is going to forget the corruption within the Democratic Party, they are sorely wrong.
Peggy Noonan can only write editorials, not pass laws.
