IIRC, he apologizes because some were offended by his statements. "I apologize if I offended you....." not apologizing because what he said was wrong.

You think? What about Ariel Sharon? Didn't he say he was wrong about that, and that he couldn't know why he had a stroke (after he said that God was punishing him).

Maybe my memory is fuzzy, but that's how I remember it.
