QUITO, Ecuador (AP) — Ecuadorean President Alfredo Palacio sent troops to guard oil facilities seized from Occidental Petroleum Corp. as they are transferred to state control, officials said Tuesday.

But officials said the cancellation of Occidental's operating contracts and the seizure of its assets did not mean the Andean nation is nationalizing its oil industry.

The Bush administration responded to the measure by breaking off negotiations on a free trade agreement with Ecuador.

OK, your tagline says follow the money. Hmmm, Occidental Petroleum, DNC, Albert Gore. OK, now what?

Check out what Ford supports.

You mean it's support for gays?

That's called "not pissing off a wealthy market segment."

Ford is in business to sell cars, not to make moral judgments.

I meant to stay quiet, and will probably wish I had, but:

Your obvious slam at MY President and Commander in Chief from your opening comment set your tone. As many have said you may disagree with his positions, actions or even the way he cuts his hair. But please be at least respectful enough of the office--if not the man--while you offer dissertation on your disagreement.

I am not a "bushbot", simply a military man that would (God help me) have defended Clinton in the same manner. And since this is a forum with many active/reserve/retired military members, your comments may ruffle feathers.

I am also sworn to protect your right to speak however you wish about our CINC, but I don't necessarily have to keep quiet about it when I disagree.

What's happening to the keen intellect I expect here?

Well, if you expect keen intellect, you might consider showing some first, instead of engaging in childish stunts like "Presidente Jorge Arbusto."

4.) Track every single green-card holding person, with implanted chips under their skin, if necessary. Tax their income. If they have a problem with taxation without representation, tell them it is their choice to come work here. Take it or leave it. Go work in your native country if you don't like it.

People with green cards are legal, and pay taxes. And are glad as hell to do it too.

5.) No amnesty for felonious illegals. None. Make a queue, with EVERY SINGLE PERSON currently in the legal queue for citizenship ahead of any current illegal immigrant. Not a single illegal is processed until every person currently awaiting legal processing for citizenship has been either accepted or rejected, even if it takes 20 years to do so. Why is that so frikking hard to understand?

No disagreement, but a slight correction, being in the country illegally is of itself not a felony, it's a misdemeanor. Helping someone else come in to the country illegally, that is a felony.

It's one of the reason's the so called "vigilantes" on the border cannot stop the aliens, but are limited to calling the border patrol. If it was a felony, any citizen can make a felony arrest, if they see the crime being committed.

Thank you for the clarification. My point was that every Green Card person should be tracked. Every single other person here illegally should be either given a green card (or equivalent ) and tracked, or deported, period.

If I am not mistaken, green cards are good for a certain interval, and must be renewed. There are a LOT of people who came into the country with a green card, and just stayed when it expired. But I could be mistaken. Any knowledge of this aspect?

I doubt that there are any remnants of Hammer's reign left at Oxy today.

I'll bet there are plenty of such remnants. Corporations, especially those that are less than huge conglomerates, and are not the result of merger mania, have personalities. Managers tend to promote those who think like they do. Hammer thought like a Red, was in effect a Red, and likely put plenty of like minded (using "mind" in a loose sense) people in high places in the company. They in turn will have put more junior Red lovers into place.

Okay. But please do not expect the grown-ups to take you seriously.

Sorry I was being disingenuous. Actually, I just used that excuse so I wouldn't have to explain it to you, but see post #47 if you really want to understand my point.
