QUITO, Ecuador (AP) — Ecuadorean President Alfredo Palacio sent troops to guard oil facilities seized from Occidental Petroleum Corp. as they are transferred to state control, officials said Tuesday.

But officials said the cancellation of Occidental's operating contracts and the seizure of its assets did not mean the Andean nation is nationalizing its oil industry.

The Bush administration responded to the measure by breaking off negotiations on a free trade agreement with Ecuador.

Well, one more production facility that will be run into the ground.
Hell, I don't trust the US government to run anything, let alone these clowns.

can't quite claim the same with regard to the borders of his own country? Is it sinking in yet Bushbots?

Equador isn't inside the borders of this country.

How does Bush have anything to do with what goes on in Equador?

I think you must be referring to your own thought processes?

What we are seeing is a worldwide resurgence of communism on the heels of Muslims fighting. I think the commies have been laying low for a while and now see an opportunity,
We must be very vigilant and lock down the borders now.
All of south America is going to be like Venezuela, American hating commies infiltrated by the mussies.

Seems related to the "Bush married to big oil" conspiracy threads over at DU.

For your entertainment value, (And I am doing this just to show how belligerent any one of us can be if you catch us at the wrong time...before I had my breakfast was the wrong time this morning...) I will repost here what I posted this morning in response to a thread with the subtitle:

"MEXICO warned last night that it would file lawsuits in the United States if National Guard troops on the border become directly involved in detaining immigrants."

I posted the following three responses while in my bathrobe before I finished breakfast:

POST #1:
________
These people SUCK!

1.) "You won't be able to stop us with soldiers! We will evade them and get into your country no matter what!"

2.) "If you interfere with our illegal, felonious activity that would justly get us apprehended AND DEPORTED in ANY other country in the world, we will use your own court systems against you and SUE you for denying US what we view as RIGHTFULLY OURS...namely YOUR COUNTRY!"

Now, this is REALLY pissing me off. I say build a wall to rival the Great Wall of China, top it with pressure sensitive pneumatic spikes, build a moat and stock it with sharks with frikkin laser beams, put a mile and a half of concertina wire over the top of Bouncing Betty landmines, patrol the whole thing with Apache helicopters armed with 12 Hellfire missles each. Fine every company that hires illegals extravagantly, find every single one of them in this country and immediately DEPORT them, make them line up on the other side of the border to get back in and put a ankle bracelet on them that will explode if tampered with. Categorize them and track their every movement.

Screw them. This pisses me off.

________
DAMMIT I should NOT read these threads on Free Republic when I get up in the morning!...this just STEAMS me!

You know, I am not one of those people who had any kind of inherent issue with mexicans, legal or illegal, expecially not legal. Even illegal, I kind of looked at them the same way I view people who knowingly break the law for various minor crimes, know it is against the law, but are willing to accept the consequences if caught and prosecuted.

But the way these people are taking US Citizenship, something I VALUE above nearly everthing else, and think is one of the GREATEST earthly privileges a person can have, and throwing it on the ground and stomping on it and saying it means NOTHING, well that is just reflexively sending me to the other side of the tolerance spectrum.

If this is the backlash they have been warning those people about, then they are right, at least in my case.

________
And, oh yes. Legal Immigration.

Throw the entire Immigration system in the trash.

1.) Find out what our country needs, and set the quotas appropriately. Need more engineers, doctors and architects? Let them immigrate from some scumbag communist dictatorship. If we are really having a problem with braindrain and can't produce them, lets entice them.

2.) Make people have a sponsor and a job before they come.

3.) Make them speak English. (For that matter, in this country, get rid of all written forms in a gazillion languages, legal requirements for translators in many varieties of businesses. MOST OF ALL, get rid, trash, expunge bilingual education. It is a MAJOR MONEYWASTING BOONDOGGLE.

4.) Track every single green-card holding person, with implanted chips under their skin, if necessary. Tax their income. If they have a problem with taxation without representation, tell them it is their choice to come work here. Take it or leave it. Go work in your native country if you don't like it.

5.) No amnesty for felonious illegals. None. Make a queue, with EVERY SINGLE PERSON currently in the legal queue for citizenship ahead of any current illegal immigrant. Not a single illegal is processed until every person currently awaiting legal processing for citizenship has been either accepted or rejected, even if it takes 20 years to do so. Why is that so frikking hard to understand?

I was simply posting an esoteric response similar to your own.

It's much like comment #13 on the same topic behind the following link. When your surprise fades, you know that it's simply a pro-communist remark.

--- Please explain exactly what you mean, Rockitz. I don't see what you are driving at. Be explicit.---

He's a liberal and can't explain himself. He sees "oil" and automatically attacks Bush while being so ignorant to the fact that the Occidental Petroleum Corporation is Al Gore's cherry pie.

He just shot his own feet off. Liberals are the Wile E. Coyotes of politics.

Presidente Jorge Arbusto is acting decisively to protect US oil interests, but can't quite claim the same with regard to the borders of his own country? Is it sinking in yet Bushbots?

Acting decisively by stopping negotiations that were basically stalled since last month.

He has done considerably more in addressing the border situation and has been working on it for months.

Your comments are dishonest.
