You have your position, Bush has his own. He is not our servant, but our representative. I don't agree with him on immigration either, but we got Sam Alito, baby.
I also believe it is a foregone conclusion that Bush will get another pick before he leaves office, and I don't want a smaller Senate majority having to deal with Spectervision.
You can be right in every respect on immigration, and all I am saying is that we should be able to argue and debate the subject without personally attacking the man because he doesn't see it as we do.
I cant wait to go off on the next FReeper who types the word 'jorge' on this forum.
Any freeper who does that has lost all credibility with me. I am one who has avoided commenting lately..It seemed like some threads were coming from the opposition and every thread turned into an immigration or bash Bush thread..
There have always been fierce differences expressed on this forum. The "jorge" and bushbot.."supports anything with an R by the name" slams but most of all hatred and disrespect shown to the President just turned me off. I would call a lot of what I read hysteria and perfectionism mixed. We have virtually allowed those voices to dominate..I am guilty of protecting my blood pressure.
We can disagree but with honor..I have never agreed with any President on all things..
Remember the admonitions about cutting off your nose to spite your face.
We are at war for heavens sake and this War on Terror is uppermost in my mind. I hope I can live to see it through.
I thank God George Bush is my President at this time in history. I thank God for our men and women serving our country and the families who support them.

The REASON we got Sam Alito was because people like me were deadly serious that we were going to walk out of the Republican Party, fold our arms and stay home if the GOP went ahead with the Miers travesty. They looked into our eyes and realized "My GOD, they're SERIOUS", and they flinched.
That's why we have Sam Alito.
I have listened to the BorderBots. They are as deadly serious about their fence as me and folks like me were about Miers and the Supreme Court. Deadly serious. The difference is that the President has not taken them seriously and did not flinch.
The result is predictable.
I want the GOP to win in November.
But it can't keep Congress if the BorderBots go.
And they are going.
I understand them. I don't agree with them, but I understand them. And they are as serious as I was.
We need to give them their damned fence.
They can't get everything they want.
Bush wants guest worker. They don't.
But if they got their fence, they'd have something, they'd have a victory, and they'd have HOPE. They'd also have something to DEFEND.
As it is, they got the finger.
And they're going to give US the finger in November.
It's not as though they didn't give us fair warning.
They've been screaming it.
We didn't listen, and now it's going to hurt.
Once we've lost, this year, we WILL listen next year, and ilico presto the platform will be a fence, and the nominee will talk about a real fence.
I'd prefer that we not have to go through the intervening defeat.
