CNN Poll (Good news 4 Bush supporters)
National Review ^

Posted on 05/16/2006 10:35:33 AM PDT by greenpagan

CNN Poll [John Podhoretz] David Frum, the smartest man I know, got it wrong. CNN has a poll just up, and the results are staggeringly in the president's favor. 79 percent of those who watched had a very favorable or favorable view of the speech, and those who support the president's policies rose in number from 42 to 67 percent. We go down this path every time there's a snap poll of Bush's speeches (e.g., the SOTU addresses). The people who watch the speeches are already predisposed to favor Bush and to be persuaded by Bush, so his speeches get good marks. But the vast majority get their opinions not from the speeches (since they don't see the speeches), but from what they later see and hear about the speeches, and right now the majority is not predisposed to favor anything Bush says either..

And when EVERY poll has Bush's approval rating in the low 30% area, FReepers claim they are ALL totally biased.

The MSM will try to pump up Bush's approval numbers now to create the impression that there is support for his amnesty program.

Hehe. How old are you? 19? LOL.

I've seen them have to be kicked all the time. Very few "leaders" lead---that's what was so impressive about Bush after 9/11.

I would have liked some tougher things like building a real fence along the entire border, but frankly, I found his speech very well done.

He showed the world that Americans are a people of caring and love, not a nation to shut out those who need us, but at the same time, we are a nation of laws and won't reward lawbreakers. They will have to pay a price for coming here illegally.

Well, whatever we share---or disagree over---I think EVERYONE can agree that the Senate bill must be stopped. It is an abomination.

The way Bush is communicating his message directly to the people now, he won't be in the 30's for long. We are a center-right society/electorate just like Karl Rove said.

I agree. 6,000 National Guard troops is primarily "window dressing" and in reality will do little to secure the borders, but it sure sounds impressive. Think about it - 6,000 troops couldn't effectively secure the Indiana - Kentucky border.

Amnesty, on the other hand, is on its way.

So you are saying they are going to get more Republicans elected this year, correct? Because the only thing holding down GOP numbers---according to the Freepers---is the President's poll numbers.

The fact is, whether Bush did enough or not nearly enough, the ISSUE IS ON THE TABLE NOW (it wasn't before) and the REPUBLICANS are the ONLY ONES who are discussing it in any way, shape, or form. The disagreement is whether a convservative Republican or liberal Republican solution will be enacted. That is very telling. The Dems are finished.

it confirms my suspicion that a multitude of anti-Bush members inundating FR are strictly BUSH haters

Much of it is calculated muck throwing by DU types. The 05,06 registrations are a giveaway.

49 and retired from the Marines :P

I guess I was just too used to GOOD leadership during my career to pay much attention to the Bad Leadership in the DC.

It's been such a wake up call to see people in DC letting the wolf in the back door while my comrades and I spent our blood sweat and tears keepting it out of the yard in the first place.

In fact, my comrades and young fire breathers that I trained, are still shedding that blood sweat and tears overseas while the maggots in DC are inviting potential enemies into the parlor.

You wouldn't trust a CNN poll unless they were low numbers and then you'd blame Bush because of his "failed immigration policies", right?

I agree with the "concept" of a fence, but listening to Cheney, who said he admitted HE didn't know, but was told by the experts, a fence was neither practical or useful on some stretches of the border. OK, I'll talk about that.
