How do you account for Fr. Cozzens statements in his book that between 30% to 60% of priests crrrently serving in the priesthood are Homosexuals, and these statements are supported by other books.
Dear chatham,
"How do you account for Fr. Cozzens statements in his book that between 30% to 60% of priests crrrently serving in the priesthood are Homosexuals, and these statements are supported by other books."
I don't know what percentage of the priesthood comprises homosexuals. I suspect that Fr. Cozzens' high-end estimates may be exaggerated. However, what does that have to do with the price of tea in China?
We're talking about the response of the hierarchy of the Catholic Church in the United States to the problem of child abuse by priests. It has been demonstrated that the problem did become very severe by the early 1980s, after several decades of increasing severity. You stated falsely that the hierarchy, including Pope John Paul II and then-Cardinal Ratzinger, did nothing.
However, it has been pointed out to you that while they and the bishops did "nothing," the problem declined by 90% in about ten years.
The question of just what percentage of priests are homosexual is a non sequitur in relationship to your assertions that Pope John Paul the Great and then-Cardinal Ratzinger did nothing about child abuse by priests in the United States.
