Bush immigration speech: Key quotes
bbc ^ | 5/16/06 | bbc

Posted on 05/16/2006 1:54:23 AM PDT by wotan

The following are key excerpts from President George W Bush's televised speech on immigration:

"We must begin by recognizing the problems with our immigration system. For decades, the United States has not been in complete control of its borders. As a result, many who want to work in our economy have been able to sneak across our border, and millions have stayed... Yet we must remember that the vast majority of illegal immigrants are decent people who work hard, support their families, practice their faith, and lead responsible lives. They are a part of American life, but they are beyond the reach and protection of American law."

Enforcement is what he's been doing.

LOL. Are you in the common practice of making assertions that have no basis in fact? It's a bad parody of the Dead Parrot skit.

Don't you know it's bad form to answer a question with a question?

Why don't you just answer the question "So exactly what is the administration doing to prevent saboteurs from coming across the border?"

You seem to be making quite an effort to put me down for someone you find so "boring." (yes, I'm laughing at your "little princess" petulance)

What s with you people and your endless TV references? Oh, right, you all watch too much TV.

Yes, so true, Bush hasn't enforced the borders, there is no more money going to border security under him than there was under Clinton, your buddy, and no more patrols, yeah, whatever, zzzzzzzzzzz....

Are there more illegal immigrants in the country now than when he took office?

Your ability to dissemble without the first care of plausibility is truly remarkable.

If you are truly laughing out loud, it is because you don't understand a bit of what's being said to you.

Zzzzzzzzzz

You are boring, intellectually vapid, AND you have no sense of humor. You seem too impressed with yourself and too uninformed about the issue at hand to feel anything but pity for now, after your embarassing attempts at dodging the issue and your feeble try at insult. You keep saying *I* don't understand, and yet you keep showing off your ignorance.

Like I said, you're just dull now, no fun now that you've stopped with the hissy fit and are trying insults again. Oh well, it was fun while you were sputtering.

Oh that's good...illegal immigration is a function of our population growth.

Is there nothing too stupid for you to say?.

ROFL!

Oh God, you simply CANNOT be this stupid! LOL!!!!

I was pointing out that the population has grown (naturally) under Bush, and asking "are there more illegals?" is a loaded question--yes, there are, as there ALWAYS have been from one presidency to the next.

But you didn't get that.

There are more cars. More houses. More total numbers of cancelled TV shows. None of which has a damned thing to do with anything, because unless Bush got rid of every single illegal since the day he stepped into office, your question can't be answered any other way but "yes" BUT it proves nothing because no anti-illegal plan could result in that outcome.

But you didn't grasp that kindergarten-simple concept.

I'd say "You can't be that dumb" but apparently you are. THIS is the level of thought on that side of the issue? Not voting Republican in November? You people won't be able to find the voting booth with a map and a seeing eye dog.

LOL The FUN papertyger is back! Go on, do something else funny!

Sure I can ;o) After all, I understand when two illegals love each other and etc...they make more illegals...oh, wait...you mean if they have a child on this side of the border, that child is a citizen? Well then, how did the number of illegals grow?

I know, I know, only a complete idiot could think more actual people walked across the border

Oh my, now this is just getting sad. You REALLY didn't get that my question was just pulled out of thin air to show your question was beside the point? You REALLY thought it was addressing the question, and not mocking it?

"Sure I can" is right. Wow.

Except your "question" does no such thing. It is beyond dispute that despite the measures you trumpet, MORE illegals are coming over the border. QED the present incentives for illegal immigration are dwarfing the disincentives practiced by the current administration.

Yes, I think you are dull witted and vain enough to address the question and defend your answer over several posts, then pretend you were "just kidding" when your error finally dawns on you.

Oh God, you really DID think it was an answer to your question even though I even explained to you that it was MOCKING your answer. (Have you already forgotten your comment about "Answering a question with a question"--which I then mocked by doing exactly that?)

Wow, this has gone beyond you being funny, now you're a loon.

Yes, I think you are dull witted and vain enough to address the question and defend your answer over several posts, then pretend you were "just kidding" when your error finally dawns on you.

Are you on crack? I didn't defend it--I pointed out how SILLY your question was because EVERYTHING goes up over six years.

I was about to type "You can't be this stupid" once again, but as you have already admitted, yes, you are. As your continuing to sink into the mud proves.

Please keep posting as an example of what your side of this "debate" is all about: Having no clue, and no sense of reality. Can't say it's as much fun as before, but it is, sadly, indicative.
