Before I read a single comment, I will just say that I think this speech set exactly the right tone. It emphasizes physical security but also allows for guest workers and a citizenship track, without which no system can succeed. IMHO, Bush hit this one out of the park.
I know there are some who may think it is not enough, too little, too late. To those, I say that the President does not have the luxury of pie-in-the-sky thinking. He cannot bloviate without coming up with real solutions. Some past Presidents have, but this particular President takes his responsibility seriously.
So, Kudos to President Bush. I cannot imagine a better speech to be given in this situation.
Good post. The problem with immigration has been going on for twenty years, but most of the posters on this thread belong to a group who would fit in better with the DU. Calling themselves conservatives is a farce. "Blame Bush" is their slogan and mantra and they are no better than any liberal spouting their hatred for President Bush.
