I am curious why this speech is at 8 Eastern. It must suck at times to live in the Western and Mountain times zones. I suspect when the President speaks live many people(the ones he trying to reach out to) will still be in there cars trying to get home.
The combination of that..and the concept of the speech being released before hand...that makes it easier for some people to not listen to it.

Not a problem at all. Just tune in on the car radio. Captive audience...what else are we going to do in our cars?
The president's bedtime is far more important to him than anything else. The only way he can go beddy-bye at 9 p.m. is to give his speech at 8 p.m. To Hell with whether or not that is effective ...I have begun to have very negative thoughts about this man ...and what is really going on.
