The total length of the Israeli border fence is 403 miles. Yes, the US fence with Mexico would be 5 times that length, but Israel, with its limited resources and need to build in hostile territory, built most of their fence in a little over 2 years. In a space of 2 years the US could fence at LEAST 400 miles of the border, to go with the 83 miles currently fenced, and probably more than that. The whole thing would be up within a decade, and illegal flows would be diverted to more difficult areas, cutting down their frequency.
You are the man..I like the details.
Israel has also had to deal with a level of violence that even with 9-11, America hasn't had to endure. Tell me this, how many years after the first homocide bomber from the Palestinian areas killed Israeli's did they build the walls? It was decades. And they are a much smaller area than the U.S. border is. It's not a fair comparrison at all, and I say that as someone that is all for a large tall wall on the border. The Canadian one too for that matter. But it's apples and oranges and quite simplistic at that.
