We have so much to thank W for. It is truly sad that so many conservatives of his own party are so ungrateful they want it all.

I guess they have forgotten any good relationship is difficult and both sides must give in on issues to make it work. Unfortunately too many just want to take. There are days that I am disgusted with the “give me everything” attitude of some conservatives. Do these conservatives with children give their kids everything they want and demand? My hunch is no. So, why act this way as and adult?

If we lose in Nov., because these ungrateful short-sighted republicans stay home, they will get allot, I repeat allot less from Reid and Pelosi.

It is truly sad these republicans forget the great economy, low taxes, low unemployment, our safety, no child left behind, medicare overhaul, drug prescription for the elderly, etc. and not to mention the honor returned to the office of the presidency by W.

W will be remembered as a president that had to overcome and deal with obstacles that no other president in our union has, and he did it with class. He did his way. God bless you W. I am proud you are my POTUS. My daughter prays everynight and she says “May God bless you president Bush and your family”. I could not say it any better.

You have said it for me too. This President has been the best president in my lifetime. And I remember President Roosevelt so you know I've seen a lot.

You should calm down. The fact is, most of these people are NOT conservatives. It takes brains and reason to be a conservative, and many of the people making derogatory comments simply don't have it. There are not enough of these nabobs to effect the elections this November, so I would not worry much. The one thing they do know, is that they are a vast minority, which is why they spend all day every day bringing down the President, hoping that some of you will believe them.

Well, I thought it was a decent speech. He's pushing more then just 6000 national guard temporarily. He also talked about increasing border patrol, technology, I believe he also mentioned constructing barriers (not just "virtual" barriers but actual ones). I could be wrong about that one though.

I wish he and the Senate would drop the whole guest worker thing, especially the multi-tiered amnesty thing. So there's a statute-of-limitations for illegal immigration now? That sounds awfully oleaginous to me.

Still, I consider closing the borders now to be the most important thing. I think we could assimilate the 12 million here now and, assuming the borders are truly closed, deporting them would mainly be a matter of principle. And I do believe that the president sincerely wants to tighten our borders--maybe not as much as he should, but I don't think he's just cynically throwing a bunch of smoke and mirrors at us. I could be mistaken, of course; I can't read his mind. But we will see if his actions actually back up his words regarding securing the border.

I do think there are some conservatives who won't be happy with him anymore no matter what he does. His dithering and missteps on this and other issues have put him past the tipping point with them and I wonder if there is anything he could have said tonight that would have pleased them. It's unfortunate because it will only ensconce in power people who will be worse then he on EVERY issue, including this one.
