This speech is just part of the process of making sausage. If you want to influence that process you have to figure out where the disagreement is. It seems to me that the senate is agruing about who will be eligible to apply to stay and be citizens. Bush says they should have been here a long time and be employed. What is long? Five years? This is what the senate is arguing, I think.

Exactly, I mean the power of the internet and cable news is great but its been not a great force in explaining what is really going on in this debate. In fact at times I have noticed that its becoming more difficult for a casusal observer to tell the difference between the propaganda and the real news on the net. It seems to me that the best of the House bill and the best of the Senate bill will hopefully come together. Of course its not a perfect world and some things will gaul both sides. I am glad the President laid out his views tonight. I think its laying the groundwork for a Senate Bill with tough enforcement measures on the border like the House wants.
