I listened intently. I too want to see the borders controlled. Bush and the Feds can't do it all. The States must toughen their policies as well. Many California cities will not even allow their law enforcement agencies to call for INS. Bush inherited this problem just like the terrorist problem. It did not start in 2001 and will not end in 2006. We must all demand from our local governments that they do their part too.

Bush is not just the Republican's President. Bush is America's President and he must listen to all sides of this debate and give consideration to each side. I will support President Bush on this one. However, the States must also do their part and require their law enforcement agencies to contact the the proper authorities.

I also believe that English must be required as America's only language. No more translated ballets...that must stop. If you cannot speak or read English, you simply will not be allowed to have your voice heard.

We are fighting for freedom in Iraq and Afghanistan. How can you separate Men and Women from Mexico who want freedom for themselves and their families. I refuse to be so cold hearted as to deny them the opportunity if they are willing to become an American in all aspects of what an American is. Given their religious backgrounds, there is a good possibility we could turn them into enough Republicans so that we can finally shut the democrats door tight.

God Bless our President and God Bless America.

You are absolutely correct. The President should have called for the same sanctions, i.e., withholding funding, that have been used to compel states to require seat belt usage and crack down on drunk driving, to force states and municipalities to have their police agencies cooperate with the Feds in cracking down on illegal immigrants.

I agree with you. People should turn their attention to enforcement in their own communities, and citizens could do a lot. Imagine using neighborhood watch and checkpoints. Apparently, we are going to have a national crackdown on seatbelts, but law enforcement can't be bothered with illegals. Whose priorities are those?

You need to undertand what the actual substance of the "comprehensive" bill will do:
