The Bracero program was initiated in 1942 to provide additional manual labor to satisfy demand brought on by World War II. After about 3 million Mexicans entered the USA under this program the program was finally suspended in 1964. After the Braceros returned to their respective homes they continued to cross the border to work on the farms and ranches of this country.

You are right - it was 1942 - thanks. Once LEGAL immigration rates are higher, the Border Patrol will be able to focus catching terrorists and any other criminals crossing over the border.
