The GOP is like a shopkeeper who doesnt have some of what you want. (Think Soup Nazi or Monty Python cheese shop skit).
The Democrats are like muggers meeting you in a dark alley - the thought is - please don't take everything I have.
After you get mugged again and again, even a bad shopkeeper is not so bad in comparison.
