No voice of SANITY can expect to receive any response but howling absurdities from the "base". Once the baying-at-the-moon pack starts to run it is hard to stop.
What a shame. If we had just stopped baying, Harriet Miers would be on the Supreme Court. /s

GWB could go a very long way toward solving this problem with one sentence during this evening's speech: "I will veto any immigration bill that includes an amnesty, or exceeds the proposal I offered in January 2004. As I said then, amnesties are unfair and mock the rule of law."
Of course there's still the spending issue.

Compromise has caused America to be nearly socialist now the compromise that will allow CRIMINALS who overstay their visas and INVADERS to be rewarded will destroy America.
The vote for the party because they are the less of the evil is just another nail in our coffin!

This is what sickens me the most.
I will vote for them like a drone, just as I have the last 20 years.
The Democrats are communist, islamic fascist appeasing traitors, and cannot be given the majority again.
So I will vote, and I will be ignored and betrayed, and I will get angry. But what other choice do I have.
The Democrats will betray and sell out our entire country. The Republicans will only betray and sell out conservatives.

failing again to grasp reality or deal with third party option as a valid move. They just don't want to imagine that the public would cut both parties loose and start over.

This reminds me of something my mother used to tell me. Oh yeah. "Don't cut your nose off to spite your face."
I'll be voting Republican.
And just for the record -- I still support the President.

There has been on "ignoring" unless you mean those insisting on raising taxes; cutting and running in the War on Terror; endorsing homo marriage; appointing Liberals to the Courts and other such idiocies.
As far as the LocoFocos and Know Nothings about Illegals go, who can reason with those who watch the Party of Treason organize, sponsor, provide speakers for massive demonstrations THEN want to attack the GOP thereby giving MORE power to the forces who want MORE Illegals? If this is not insanity then the word has lost its meaning.

Compromise is a word made famous by lawyers.
I once overheard a lawyer and a client having an exchange of words.
The lawyer asked his client ... "What is it that you want?" The client said .. "Justice."
The lawyer said ... "You won't get justice in the courts. If you want justice, get a gun."

Please read the whole thing before you start flaming.Well, you tried.
I've asked for but have yet to read ONE post from a Spite My Face Conservative that intelligently, coherently explained how their sitting out this November will:
A. Help their anti-illegal immigration cause
B. Make sure that "the message" gets through (has any "message" vote EVER changed the party as the messengers intended?) and changes are made accordingly, and
C. Guarantee that the Republicans of their choosing suddenly take back the Congress in 08 while keeping Hillary out of power

These kinds of articles always make me shake my head.
Most voters, conservative or otherwise, don't read political commentary pieces.
You can't influence voters by writing a column that says "you better turn out and vote."
What you can do, though, is write a column to the political insiders that actually read these pieces that convinces them to change their behavior, so as to encourage voters to turn out.
Like, for instance, actually doing things that conservative voters want.

Another writer who is putting the cart before the horse.
Every action has a reaction.
GWB abandons base, base decide not to show up on election day.
What is the cause of this?
Where does the "blame" if any...belong?

The Gelding Old Party needs start acting like conservatives...
and with Bush's approval rating at 29;
I'd suggest they start today!
And someone needs to tell Bush that WE CAN DEPORT 11 MILLION ILLEGALS before he makes his speech tonight.

"For starters, why would Republicans get the message that we need to be more conservative in a year that conservatives were knocked out?"
This article is nothing more than more RINO political hackery.
As if these politicians don't listen to the polls, etc... ?
They'll know why they were ousted. And potential contenders will know which way to lean to pander to the right for a change.
