BUSH: WE CAN'T BOOT 11M ILLEGALS
NY Post ^ | 5/15/06

Posted on 05/15/2006 5:48:16 AM PDT by areafiftyone

May 15, 2006 -- WASHINGTON - In his live, nationally televised address tonight, President Bush will tell Americans that it's impossible to deport the estimated 11 million illegal aliens living here.

"We must reject amnesty, but recognize that it is not realistic to round up millions of people and send them home," said White House spokeswoman Maria Tamburri in a preview of Bush's speech.

She said Bush plans to spell out his vision for sealing the border, enforcing the law, and "creating a rational system for workers to come into our country and to do jobs Americans won't do." Bush plans to visit the U.S.-Mexican border this week, and will dispatch his Cabinet to help sell the immigration plan.

The Senate plans to return to the contentious issue this week now that Republicans and Democrats have a deal to plow through controversial amendments. But the House and Senate are far apart on whether to put illegals on a path to citizenship.

Tamburri said Bush would call for "better equipment, increased funding, and advanced technology" to secure the border.

She didn't confirm press reports that Bush wants to expand deployments of National Guard Troops to step up border enforcement. Some Guard troops are already deployed in Arizona and New Mexico, but Bush is considering a big increase.

White House National Security Adviser Stephen Hadley said that enforcement was the Border Patrol's job - but then asked whether they needed help from the Guard on an "interim basis."

"This is not about militarizing the border," he said. The president is looking to do everything he can to secure the border. It's what the American people want."

Impossible? You can't turn one of their silly demonstrations into roundup day? Bring out the cattle prods and the transports!

"to do jobs Americans won't do."

I'll see your (((sigh))) and raise ya one. This has to be the defining phrase of this whole issue. I have supported the President and still do over his foreign policy, his tax cuts and most of his choices of SC justices (Meirs is inexplicable).

But on this, I so vehemently oppose him. I respect the man, but he is so wrong on using these insulting phrases, can't get rid of 11 million illegals (translation: we are not even going to try), and we need guest workers "to do jobs Americans won't do." All of these phrases have been disproven.

They are ILLEGAL ALIENS!!!! Not immigrants.

Booting 11 Million is a strawman. Our number one issue is control over the border. Our second problem is that if we don't, and give amnesty, we would soon (if not already) be overwhelmed by the world.

I'm sorry I really meant politicans not the American people. I know how most Americans feel but the politicians stink to high heaven when it comes to this.

Dear George, Karl, Dick, Condie, Rummy and Co.

1. Deploy temporary troops to the border regions temporarily if you must, while...

2. Beginning a comprehensive fence construction project (a la: the Minutemen design or other options, Americans have been known to tackle such tasks with success in the past, you know, fly to the moon and little things like that).

3. Fill the ranks of your Border Patrol agents (hey, create a few more jobs!)...

4. And crackdown on employers who hire undocumented workers throughout the US. Make examples of some, if you must, to bring everyone in line with current US Laws.

5. YOU WILL NOT HAVE TO DEPORT the MAJORITY of ILLEGALS as their access to easy work and EASY RETURN TO THE US will be curtailed.

...Last time I drove down to Mexico it was wide open going into TJ, so I'm sure they'll have no problem getting home.

"creating a rational system for workers to come into our country and to do jobs Americans won't do."

PLEASE (GWB) cut this nonsense. This is most aggregious slur imaginable. Fox News had a thing about "Rosie the Riviter" last night. That is America, not GWB's can't do attitude.

I agree our number one issue is the border. And number two should be cracking down on employers who hire illegals. Then they number of illegals will take care of themselves.

Well I doubt if you can find one of those hateful bumper stickers in Okla. Most people there are far more sensible and mature than to stoop that low.

Get rid of their employers and don't allow them on welfare and they will have to leave.

The apathy in this county's leadership is country is disgusting: no border control, higher crime, added welfare recipients, amnesty for illegals to do "do the work Americans won't do…" All of it is enough to make me militant. It’s a done deal folks. Sit back and watch your neighborhoods change, if they have not already.

I don't know. I bet I could round up 100 illegals daily on my small trips around Houston. Doesn't sound like much, but I'm just one person. So the word gets around here that people ARE being detained and deported. They move to safer ground. Houston is cleaned out and now it's time for "next town" USA to begin their daily duty. Sooner or later, inroads WOULD be made into the illegal problem.
