Government To Go After Employers Of Illegals?
The government lies so much about its intent to crack down on illegals that it is hard to take this seriously.
The government plans to crack down ever harder on employers who harbor and hire illegal immigrants, pursuing companies that ignore the law so they can exploit cheap labor.
"We are going to move beyond the current level of activity to a higher level in each month and year to come," Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff said yesterday. He pledged to "come down as hard as possible" on violators.
Has something changed? The trend in recent years has been toward weaker and weaker enforcement.

Didn't the government go after Enron and the likes? They were big companies. So why wouldn't they go after these other businesses if politically forced too?
Tyson foods would be a good employer to start with. This may show us they actually mean to do something.
I don't see why. Everytime I contract my services out they need my SS#, Drivers License, sometimes even my passport. If an illegal can't product valid ID then they shouldn't be hired and there should be very severe penalties for employers that do. Besides it's very easy to spot an illegal alien in most cases.
They did indeed go after Enron, but the Enron problem is a different animal entirely. Thousands of stock investors were bilked of millions of dollars, ruining many lives almost overnight. It was huge corporate theft... very high profile. Miguel and Pedro doing landscaping isn't high profile and realistically, right now the INS (ICE) doesn't have the resources they need to go after Miguel and Pedro. Unfortunately, I am very skeptical that in his speech tonight the President will discuss allocating the resources to send Miguel and Pedro back home, or even discover that they are here.
Thanks for the clarification.
As long as you're not complaining about the dirty Tleilaxu .....
Bullseye! I like the way you think!
We are merely putty in their hands.
