O'REILLY: A "Time" magazine investigation says, 3 million illegal aliens crossed the Mexican border, and we talked about this four and a half years...
BUSH: We have. I know it's a issue that you're concerned about.
O'REILLY: Every year, 3.5 million illegals come over. Why can't the federal government control that?

Unfortunately, Bush's answers during this interview pretty clearly explain why we have the current crisis. Based on his answers, Bush really did not seem to strongly object to massive immigration from Mexico. As a someone who voted for Bush twice I count myself among those who were not happy with his answers vis a vis illegal immigration, but voted for him anyway because I thought he was right on most of the other important issues, especially the GWOT.
However, it has been extremely disappointing that Bush has let illegal immigration problem with Mexico reach the stage that it has. Let's hope Bush has finally seen the light. Frankly, I remain skeptical, but we will all find out tomorrow night.
President Bush: We don't have to choose between being a lawful society and a welcoming society, we can be both.
He'll say that tomorrow, count on it.
Of course and that was precisely why Tony Snow, who believes the same as President Bush on immigration, was hired for the job!
Oh! You are skeptical? That is your news?
You trolls just don't realize how transparent you are.
You could be Bush's speech writer.
No. He doesn't.
We are now one of the largest Spanish-speaking nations in the world. We're a major source of Latin music, journalism and culture. Just go to Miami, or San Antonio, Los Angeles, Chicago or West New York, New Jersey ... and close your eyes and listen. You could just as easily be in Santo Domingo or Santiago, or San Miguel de Allende. For years our nation has debated this change -- some have praised it and others have resented it. By nominating me, my party has made a choice to welcome the new America. As I speak, we are celebrating the success of democracy in Mexico. George Bush from a campaign speech in Miami, August 2000. |
Here is an excerpt of a good critique of that speech:
In equating our intimate historic bonds to our mother country and to Canada with our ties to Mexico, W. shows a staggering ignorance of the civilizational facts of life. The reason we are so close to Britain and Canada is that we share with them a common historical culture, language, literature, and legal system, as well as similar standards of behavior, expectations of public officials, and so on. My Bush Epiphany By Lawrence Auster
Bush is part of the "overclass". He wants lower and middle class wages depressed. Heck, he's probably got some "study" by some think-tank saying what a good idea it is will all the code words and nice talk.
I'll give the cheaper labor lobby spokesmen and business globalists one credit - I've never heard them say "Jobs Americans won't do." they understand the economic project and it's purposes - it's not to fill jobs Americans won't do, it's to increase the labor pool of jobs Americans will do.
And there's entertainment from the left. They're stuck on proving Bush lied about WMDs, something believed by the intel agencies of the world. Where Bush lies on immigration is fertile ground, but the left has been shamed into silence by the business lobbies spinning racist memes. Certainly there is no "left" anymore that supposedly cares about the common people.
Ha! We are welcoming, we already take millions of legal immigrants. As for being lawful, Bush policy has been not to enforce the law.
That seems to be one of the big talking points along with the "jobs Americans won't do" bit.
Transparent? Rove leaked the details of the speech. He does that all the time. He has a habit of that. His hubris of his own brilliance lets the people and Bush opponents scrutinize ahead of time. Dumb, but predictable.
as well as "family values don't stop at the border".....
We don't have to choose between being a lawful society and a welcoming society, we can be both.

Bush will be weak and pandering to the Mexicans and Vincente Fox, and near oblivious to American law and the will of the American people, on Monday eve. Expect it. We have NWO-Bush pretty well calibrated now. He WILL NOT close the border as he should. He is going to spray bull excrement all over the American public tomorrow night and expect the American citizen, who is being screwed beyond belief by him and Washington on this issue, to eat and like it.
The utopian elite in Washington, like the Bush dynasty, including Bush senior and his good friend, Lawless Clinton, have lost complete touch with the reason they are in Washington and even WHAT COUNTRY THEY ARE WORKING FOR.
I have my barf bucket and crying towel already positioned by the couch for tomorrow night's major testimony to the malfeasance of this President when it comes to our borders, our laws, our Constitution, our soverignty and the will of the American people.
Yes. it's Bush's way of shaming and guilting the public to support his position. Unfortunately there is no strong opposing voice pointing out the hypocrisy, that the plan works to hurt American families financially.
Usually these points are being made by the "opposition" but the Dems here are locked into the Business lobbies more than the Republicans. Harry Reid had the possibility, remember his position in 1993? He went globalist/anti-American.
Skeptical because I'm a realist, transparent because I have nothing to hide.
Oh, that we could get those same qualities in government.
"Independent, grass-roots conservatism" is the foundation of FR, and when any GOP member acts contrary to these things, expect a double dose of invective. We expect such behavior from the Dems, so they get off relatively easily here.
If you can't stand "independent, grass-roots conservatism", feel free to spend more time at http://www.gopusa.org
Well your point about going back is pertinent, but Rove and his team leaked "on background." They always do that. In a way it's intended to build attention and suspense - to get people to watch.
"Here is an idea? Why don't you and others, who seem to be searching the entire Internet for articles that you can post in order to create JUST ANOTHER THREAD FOR THE PURPOSE OF ATTACKING BUSH, just STFU until you hear the speech?
Oh! You are skeptical? That is your news?
You trolls just don't realize how transparent you are."
LMAO
