Charles Krauthammer:
There are tens of millions of people who want to leave their homes and come to America. We essentially have an NFL draft in which the United States has the first, oh, million or so draft picks. Rather than exercising those picks, i.e., choosing by whatever criteria we want such as education, enterprise, technical skills and creativity we admit the tiniest fraction of the best and brightest and permit millions of the unskilled to pour in instead.

Holy cow we're good ;)
It has only been 11 Days!!! We're gonna need a new thread very soon ;)
LMAO....that's about what my face looks like!
I got a call at 2:00 that someone wanted to come look at my house at 5pm. I rush around like a fool to get everything ready, finish making dinner and wrap it up for later, while trying to watch this crap go down in the senate. Here it is almost 7, and the people still haven't shown up!
I've took a peek at some other threads.....I can not believe that there are some on here who are STILL defending this bill. I'm simply stunned. But then again, there were Republicans in the senate who voted for it.
I heard McCain say that a poll was taken right after the President's speech in which 75% of the American people were in favor of his proposals.
Isn't that a lie?

"The liberties of our country, the freedoms of our civil Constitution are worth defending at all hazards; it is our duty to defend them against all attacks. We have received them as a fair inheritance from our worthy ancestors. They purchased them for us with toil and danger and expense of treasure and blood. It will bring a mark of everlasting infamy on the present generation enlightened as it is if we should suffer them to be wrested from us by violence without a struggle, or to be cheated out of them by the artifices of designing men." -Samuel Adams

Lou Dobbs Tonight
Thursday, May 25, 2006
Join Lou for an hour of news, debate and opinion. Well be
following the latest on Congressman William Jeffersons alleged bribery scandal, Mexican President Vicente Foxs trip to California to meet with Governor Schwarzenegger and the guilty verdicts handed down this morning in the Enron trial.
The Senate is all set to vote on an immigration bill that is tantamount to amnesty for millions of illegal aliens living in this country. Well bring you several reports tonight on the status of that legislation: Well highlight the hidden and unknown costs of implementing so-called immigration reform and well tell you just what kind of resources and restructuring it would take to implement this plan.
Congressman Steve King of Iowas amendment against bilingual ballots was voted down in the House. The Congressman joins Lou tonight to explain why he says using English-only ballots is essential.
And Lou will also be joined by senior research fellow Robert Rector of the Heritage Foundation and Professor George Grayson from William & Mary for a discussion of the immigration reform and the problems it may pose once passed.
We hope you will join us.

D-Day Storm the Capitol Campaign!

BTTT!
RE: "Yes, I saw that segment too. Absolutely disgusting. And there's nothing we can do short of impeachment and running the majority of Washington out on a rail."
I only caught PART of that segment, but I am still reeling in utter disbelief. Just Piper says she's known about it for a while... quite a while?
The 'elephant in the room' is, as we all know, ...WHY aren't our 'leaders' DOING something about this CLEAR disrespect for, and these obvious violations of, our (existing) laws???
Seeing that video, it strikes me that one does not have to be a 'rocket scientist', nor 'expert in geo-politics', to know that SOMEthing is incredibly wrong, nor to realize that making MORE laws... to be IGNORED... is NOT going to help with THIS kind of problem.
May I be so bold to suggest that we first just try ENFORCING our existing laws??? Until, or unless, we've at least given that a TRY, how can anyone, LEAST of all Congress, possibly know whether we really 'need' any more congressional tinkering...???
If Congress, in their great wisdom, feels that they just HAVE to *DO* something, then maybe they should just consider supporting... and FUNDING... the Border Patrol for a change ...maybe even to the point where it has some reasonable CHANCE of securing our borders???
Ohmygosh ...what a CONCEPT!
