Maybe it's about time that Israel cut itself loose to do what they decide to do. That means, be understood, that they do it without any support from us and be solely responsible for their own future. If you act alone, you live alone.
Personally, I think that is what will happen. Several interesting items come to mind:
Olmert visits Bush May 23rd.
Cobra Gold ends May 26th, freeing up Desron 9 and Carrier Strike Group 9.
The Enterprise Strike Group will have fully deployed to either the Mediteranean, or on into the Red Sea.
The nuclear attack submarines that were surge deployed in early may will have reached their stations. Wherever they may be.
So we will have three carrier strike groups available in June to help prevent the closure of the Straits of Hormuz.
So my scenario is that Israel enters Syrian air space and launches long range cruise missiles (modified Popeye IIs) that hit Iranian nuclear sites. Ahmadinejad and his mentor, Yazdi, go ballistic and Iran launches retaliatory strikes against US military and GCC countries. Whereupon the US wipes out the IRGC military units and the regular Iranian military launches a coup.
